SPECTRUM COLLABORATIVE WELCOMES YOU!

Our Mission:

"Mentoring LGBTQ+ Youth and Allies Through Creative Expression."

Our Vision:

"A Safe and Diverse Community Celebrating Expressive Freedom."

Founded in 2018, Spectrum Collaborative is an all-inclusive, free arts program that pairs young people of all gender identities and their allies between the ages of 12-18 years with skilled artists who mentor them in the areas of playwriting, monologue, poetry, dance, visual art, musical composition, photography, film making, podcasting, makeup, dance, and all other arts.

Over a 12 week period, mentees work closely with their mentors to create an art piece. What the mentees create is up to them as mentors fill a supportive role in helping them reach their project goals.

At the end of the 12 week program, mentees are given the opportunity to share their work with the public in the program's culmination showcase.

SUPPORT AND COMMUNITY

A Brave Space to Share Together

At Spectrum Collaborative, our mentors provide both one on one and group support to the youth in our program. Youth in the program have the opportunity to create friendships with other artists.  With access to the right resources, youth can become empowered by their own abilities and gain the confidence to fulfill their potential.

ARTISTIC EXPRESSION

An Outlet for Artistic Expression

Spectrum Collaborative empowers youth to express themselves through art. Youth in our program have the opportunity to create a project with guidance from a mentor experienced in their area of artistic interest.

We trust our mentees to take the lead in imagining, creating, and displaying an art project. Mentors play a supportive role in this process and the program provides mentees with the tools to complete their work.

ADVOCACY

An LGBTQ Inclusive Ventura County

Spectrum Collaborative realizes that there are few resources for LGBTQ+ youth in Simi Valley. Advocacy is by no means an easy feat, but through cooperation and community empowerment we believe we can facilitate progress in this area.

Spectrum was founded because there was need in the community. Queer youth deserve spaces in which they are celebrated.
